Stephen Purvis spent his formative years living on a Texas ranch. After he landed his first job as the projectionist at the Uptown Theater in Marble Falls he was hooked on film and there was no looking back. After college he moved to Los Angeles where his film career started in the editing room. He has worked with a variety of talented filmmakers including Hector Babenco, Joe Dante, Brian De Palma, William Friedkin, Tom Hanks, Willie Nelson, Jack Nicholson, Sidney Pollack, Meg Ryan, Lou Diamond Phillips, Meryl Streep, and William Wittliff. Eventually he moved into writing, producing, and directing documentaries for cable and then into making independent features. His passion is to create socially conscious films that tell stories that make a difference and change the world.
